MV Agusta has recruited financial services expert Giorgio Girelli as executive vice-president of the company, with a view to aligning it for a future public share offer.

Girelli has spent the past 12 years heading up Banca Generali. After launching this Italian investment bank in 2000, he served as chief executive and then president, masterminding its successful debut on Milan’s Borsa Italia in 2006. Prior to that, he spent 15 years with the German international management consultancy Roland Berger, holding various senior posts.

“Giorgio Girelli’s addition to the board of directors of MV Agusta is the beginning of a process aimed at further growth, particularly in high-potential international markets,” said MV Agusta president Giovanni Castiglioni. “Girelli brings unique and valuable expertise to the company combined with a sincere passion for motorcycles and the MV brand. Over the next three years we can aim for the doubling of sales, with a solid capital structure, and we are convinced that the outcome will be the listing of the company on the stock exchange.”
