In an interview with John Hogan of e-zine Superbike, Norton Motorcycles interim chief executive John Russell has revealed that disgraced former Norton owner Stuart Garner (pictured) is acting as a consultant to the business.

Russell, recently appointed by Norton’s new Indian proprietor TVS, told Hogan that Garner is no longer involved in the operational side. But then, astoundingly, he went on to admit: “Any association that he has with us is consultative and based on the transition out of the old arrangement, so he’s not engaged with any of our people and he’s not involved with any of the management decision-making. He’ll be on the site because we’re neighbours and everyone is seeking to be gracious.”

According to Russell, the revived Norton concern is also seeking to hire an additional nine staff, including a senior design engineer and engineering manager.
