There was no respite for the rapidly contracting domestic powered two-wheeler market in Italy during February, with a year-to-date total now down by 25 per cent to 22,045 units, according to latest data from Italian industry association ANCMA.

In February, combined over-50cc registrations fell by 23.6 per cent to 8717 units. In detail, scooters dropped by 29.9 per cent at 4915 units and motorcycles were down by 13.6 per cent to 3082 units. The unregistered 50cc moped sector also took a big hit, losing 29.1 per cent to 1913 units.

For the two months of 2013 to date, registered scooter sales have fallen by 27.6 per cent to 10,904 units. Motorcycles are 16.6 per cent in arrears at 7173 units.
