Jack Lilley Triumph, based at Ashford, Middlesex, has bought North City Triumph of Romford in a deal completed on 4 March.

A former Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Cagiva and then Honda franchisee, the long-established Jack Lilley business took on Triumph in April 1991 just after the factory recommenced operations and has been a solus representative of the brand with a world-wide reputation since its relocation from Shepperton. Always a family concern, it is now run by Dave Lilley, grandson of original founder Jack Lilley.

North City Triumph joined the franchise in 2005 and has grown to be one of Triumph’s biggest dealers. The take-over was initiated by North City supremo Peter Smith’s desire to take a less active role after 40 years in the trade and offered a perfect opportunity for Jack Lilley to expand across to the other side of London.

The North City Triumph name will be retained, as will all existing staff, while Peter Smith will remain in place for the time being to help ensure a smooth transition.
