Watsonian Squire is ceasing the distribution of Royal Enfield motorcycles in the UK in order to concentrate on other activities, including the production of sidecars and luggage trailers at its factory in the Cotswolds.
The historic British sidecar manufacturer, which celebrated its centenary last year, has imported Royal Enfield into the UK since 1999 and during those 14 years has sold thousands of motorcycles. However, sales have declined steadily in the past few years and fell by another ten per cent to just 218 units in 2012.
Royal Enfield has thanked Watsonian-Squire for its long standing association with the brand in the UK.
The Indian factory says that, until any further announcements are made, queries relating to the brand should be addressed to: Ms Bidisha Dey, head of corporate communications, Eicher Motors, by email to or by phone on +91 9811969982.
