Four new heated glove models have been launched by French firm Five. Equipped with a built-in rechargeable battery, all are waterproof and have three levels of heating available. The HG1.20 is top of the range and is a full-length touring glove with a Hipora membrane and a Thinsulate 200g thermal insulation layer. An insulating cuff gusset helps to keep the heat in and a diagonal cuff zip makes them easier to get on and off. Construction is a mix of goatskin and Cordura, with protection provided by leather palm reinforcement, knuckle shell and palm sliders. SRP is £259.99.
The HG2 is a more flexible and supple multipurpose winter glove with a one-pice PVC knuckle shell, TPR palm slider and foam reinforcements on each finger for protection, plus a Bemberg lining for comfort. SRP is £239.99.
The HG3 is described as an “everyday glove” and is aimed at urban and suburban commuters and riders. It has a 40g Thinsulate thermal lining on the top side and has a one-piece shell, TPR palm sliders and finger reinforcements. A Bemberg comfort liner finishes it off inside. SRP is £229.99.
Last but not least is the HG4 classic style goatskin leather glove. Aimed at city riders and retro-bike riders it has a neoprene cuff to fit under a jacket and retains the Thinsulate 200g thermal layer and Hipora membrane for cold-weather performance, but eschews rigid protectors for more comfort. SRP is £179.99.
