Curry-flavoured Huskys

After moving from Sweden to Italy and then Austria, the much-travelled Husqvarna brand is to have yet another point of origin. Stefan Pierer, chief executive of Husqvarna parent KTM, has revealed that a forthcoming Husky road bike range will be built exclusively in India.

Production versions of the Husqvarna Vitpilen and Svartpilen, pictured, concept machines unveiled at Eicma Milan last autumn are to be manufactured at the Chakan plant of KTM’s Indian equity and production partner Bajaj Auto. These bikes are based on the KTM 390 Duke technical platform. Bajaj already makes all the KTM 125, 200 and 390 Duke range for world markets.
