female bikers set world record

A new world record for the largest all-female biker meet has been set thanks to Sherrie Woolf and Nimi Patel whose organisational skills attracted 1132 ladies to Lynn’s Raven Café, Whitchurch, on 16 July.

“We did it. It was an incredibly successful day,” Woolf told BDN. “All the riders braved the weather to arrive in the allocated time between 9am and 2pm and not only did we break our previous record of 618 ladies, we also broke the Australian record of 1002.”

The event raised £5131 for blood bikes and air ambulance charities (including £250 from female clothing brand MotoGirl) and an idea of the scale of the event is evident in this drone footage: https://youtu.be/aknXqpIyrFk

Woolf and Patel are hosting another female world record event at Silverstone during the British MotoGP (25-27 August).

Woolf said: “The volume of sponsors shows just how many companies in the industry are taking females and their buying power seriously.

“We’re confident things will continue to improve and we will be at the forefront , actively demonstrating to the industry with fun events , just how many of us are here and how many more are joining the ranks.”
