The co-operation between Kawasaki and Kymco that gave the Japanese manufacturer two scooters to add to its model range is reportedly continuing. Kawasaki, having effectively rebadged the Taiwanese manufacturer’s Downtown 300i and 125i commuters as the J300 and J125 (pictured), has reciprocated by allowing Kymco to “borrow” the engine, exhaust and swingarm from its ER-6n.
This provides Kymco with its first “big” bike, the range currently topping out with the Venox250i cruiser.
According to patent drawings seen by MCN, unlike the ER-6n, the 650 Kymco naked roadster will have a trellis frame and upside down forks and four-pot radially mounted brakes.
