KTM LAUNCHES PRODUCTION RACING DIVISION

KTM has rolled out a stand-alone business unit to develop, market and sell its closed-circuit racing motorcycle range, as well as promote their use through brand-specific race series and paddock support.

Operational since March 2017, KTM Customer Racing is offering production race bikes, tuning kits, specialised KTM PowerParts and other products. It will also design and develop competition tackle based on KTM series models for a circuit environment.

In addition, KTM Customer Racing will provide opportunities to use its products in anger with modest running and maintenance costs. The existing KTM RC Cup series for young riders, which is now operating in nine countries on three continents, will be expanded accordingly. Former MotoGP veteran Jeremy McWilliams has been recruited as KTM Customer Racing paddock consultant, acting as a mentor to this new generation of racers.

Located in Munderfing, Austria, the new unit features Wolfgang Felber as head of technical development. Felber is a 25-year KTM veteran responsible for its first Adventure model, the RC8 superbike and MotoGP Moto3 machine. Thomas Kuttruf, who has served as KTM’s head of international PR and media relations for the past ten years, is in charge of commercial development.
