New supremo at KTM in America

John Hinz has been appointed president of KTM North America, which orchestrates the Austrian manufacturer’s largest export market for KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles plus WP suspension products. He will take up the position on 31 January.

Currently KTM North America managing director, Hinz will replace Jon-Erik Burleson, who is stepping down “to embark on new personal challenges”. Burleson will maintain an association with the company as a brand ambassador for its Husqvarna range.

Hinz started out in the US bike industry as a district sales manager for Yamaha and rose to become its national dealer development manager. He joined KTM North America as product marketing manager in 2007 and subsequently served in a variety of roles. Prior to becoming MD, he was vice-president of group marketing and product development.
