special edition Vespa boosts aids charity

Piaggio is to produce a special edition Vespa in collaboration with the Aids charity (RED). (RED) is a licensed brand that raises funds by linking with prestigious partner companies.

For each Vespa (RED) sold, $150 will go toward towards supporting the activities of the global fund for the battle against Aids, tuberculosis and malaria.

The special scooter will be unveiled at Eicma in Milan (10-13 November) and will go on sale in December in Europe, Asia, the Pacific and the United States.

“The partnership with (RED), one of the most prestigious institutions in the world, represents another concrete commitment by Piaggio in this area,” said Piaggio Group CEO and MD Roberto Colaninno.

The Vespa (RED) was on display today in Rome as a sneak peek during a Global Fund event at the National Institute of Health. The launch of the arrangement was attended by Bill Gates who, with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is one of the main players in the battle for health and wellbeing in developing countries.

Founded in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver, (RED) has contributed $350 million to the battle against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
