WILKINSON MOVES ON FROM PIAGGIO

Piaggio UK has announced the departure of John Wilkinson as head of Network Development and Corporate Business Sales. In a statement the group said Wilkinson had “decided to leave the employment of Piaggio UK for pastures new”. Wilkinson will be joining Close Motor Finance, which specialise in point-of-sale finance for new and used cars, motorbikes and light commercial vehicles.

The announcement to dealers from General Manager Tony Campbell read: “John originally joined the group back in 2008 and held a number of roles before his current position heading up Network Development and Corporate Business Sales.

“John’s final day with the group is next Friday, 6 June, and therefore I would like to thank John for his hard work and commitment to myself and the Piaggio Group through what has been some very changing and challenging times over recent years.”

Campbell said Wilkinson’s departure offered Piaggio UK “a great opportunity to promote from within” and announced the appointment of Pete Cleverly to the position of “Network Development Manager, reporting directly to myself”.

Cleverly joined the company in 2011 as a Retail Sales Manager covering the West Country and, in his new position, will be contacting dealers about any “outstanding issues”.

Fred Stevens is to continue in this position as Corporate Business Sales.

“Regarding Pete’s replacement and the other RSM vacancies, we are now very close to announcing further appointments and expect to be in a position to confirm the new team next week.”
