BIG DAMAGES AWARD AGAINST MAG

Following a successful claim for unfair dismissal by three former MAG members of staff, Birmingham Employment Tribunal has awarded them a total of £42,500 in damages from the organisation.

The trio of MAG employees — campaigns coordinator Paddy Tyson, general secretary Nich Brown and administrator Louisa Smith — had walked out after a series of confrontations with MAG’s elected head office supremo Neil Liversidge.

However, they now face a fight to recover these damages. In anticipation of losing the Employment Tribunal case, a number of activists led by MAG president Ian Mutch and Liversidge transferred the biker-rights group’s trading activities to a new corporate entity – Motorcycle Action Group Ltd – and declared its previous incarnation insolvent.
