BMW CELEBRATES INDUSTRY COUP

At the conclusion of this year’s Superstock TT yesterday, BMW Motorrad UK marketing manager Scott Grimsdall was grinning from ear to ear in the winner’s enclosure.

The reason was obvious. “Bingley Bullet” Ian Hutchinson had just taken victory by a commanding 22 seconds with his factory-backed Tyco BMW S1000RR. And Hutchinson’s achievement was compounded by Peter Hickman on a Smiths BMW in second and Dan Kneen’s Penz13.com BMW in third.

“Superstock is effectively the most important TT race for manufacturers,” explained Grimsdall. “It’s a real test of machines that are very near standard street bikes sold to customers. To get a full podium lock-out for BMW Motorrad proves what a fantastic product we have.”

“And to highlight our domination of this key class, Michael Rutter in fourth, David Johnson in eighth and Jamie Coward in ninth meant we had six bikes in the top-10 finishers.”
