Devitt celebrates 80th at Expo

Devitt Insurance Services, which has been a leading UK motorcycle broker since 1936 and pioneered point-of-sale service delivery through the trade, kicked off celebrations of its 80th anniversary at Expo this year. And, almost incredibly, the company can claim a longest-standing customer it has insured for some 77 years!

The original Devitt DU motorcycle scheme in 1936 was an innovative idea to sell insurance via dealers, at the request of the Motor Agents Association. For the first time, customers could ride away on their new bikes, fully insured, on the day of purchase. It became the more recently familiar Devitt DA (Dealer Association) proposition in 1955.

Commenting on this major corporate landmark, Devitt MD William Hughes said: “We’re thrilled to be celebrating our 80th anniversary and very proud to have so many loyal customers to share it with. Devitt had a fantastic 2015 and we’ve got some great activities in the pipeline to ensure 2016 is even better.”

To mark the occasion, Devitt has launched a new crest featuring its logo alongside a specialist web content hub at devittinsurance.com/80. The hub focuses on Devitt’s 80 theme with 80 best British riders, 80 best international riders and 80 greatest circuits of all time. Browsers can test their racing knowledge with the ultimate 80-question biking quiz, there is also a look at the past 80 years of motorcycling and a playful look forward at the possibilities for the next 80. In addition, it features a competition to win an ultimate biker bundle worth £3000 — consisting of more than 80 bike-related products.

Devitt was co-sponsor (along with partner LV) of the BDN Industry Awards for the second consecutive year.
