Llexeter to distribute American bike brand UM

Lexmoto-importer Llexeter has been appointed UK importer for American company UM Motorcycles, which has started to import its range of small-capacity bikes into Europe.

UM is based in Miami, Florida, and its bikes are built in India and China. It has an 11-bike range comprising cruisers, nakeds, sports and adventure bikes, all using the same 125cc engine. It has plans further to expand the range.

According to UM, next year’s line-up will include a 300cc cruiser and adventure bike aimed at the European market.

UM’s full range will be imported into the UK by Lexmoto, with prices starting in the £2500 area and increasing to around £4000.

Dan Frost, business development manager for Exeter-based Llexeter (pictured), said: “United Motors (UM) is a huge multinational motorcycle company which over the past number of years has built up sales in the range of 500,000 units per annum.

“While the brand sources from the Zongshen factory like Lexmoto, they are also utilising production from Indian factories to ensure the best of both industries.

“The venture will allow Llexeter to progress into a new price band of products that complement the existing Lexmoto range, while also allowing us to gain from the wealth of experience available from UM.

“Distribution will start early next year with the arrival of a Euro 4 range. The UM range will be available through Lexmoto dealerships but we are open to working with dealerships keen to focus solely on UM.”
