Motorcycle mechanic and owner of Zenith Motorcycles Karen Neill hit the headlines in August when BDN reported exclusively, with associated video, that she had faced down a gang of thugs riding scooters who were threatening to steal machines from outside her premises in Tottenham, London. The story has since been picked up by MCN which, in association with Carole Nash, awarded Neill its Britain’s Biking Hero award at Motorcycle Live on 18 November.
Karen won the first prize of £1000. The runner-up won £600 and £400 was awarded for third place.
The three finalists were Talan Skeels-Piggins, Chrisy Thomson and Karen Neill, who were all nominated independently for their “Herculean contributions to motorcycling”.
In a guest column in the next issue of BDN, Karen develops the theme of women in motorcycling first raised last month by Roger Willis in his On the Money column.
