redman stars at fowlers-backed race weekend

Six-times world champion Jim Redman will be making his Castle Combe debut at the Wiltshire circuit’s annual Grand National meeting this weekend (2/3 July).

Redman will complete several laps on a 500cc 4-cylinder Honda race bike during Sunday’s Tribute Parade. He’ll be joined by David Hailwood and Freddie Sheene, the sons of two other famous racing icons.

The Grand National, and the coveted King of Castle Combe Trophy race, is being backed by Fowlers as part of its 90th anniversary celebrations. The Bristol dealer will be displaying the 2016 line-up of KTM motorcycles. The event is also a milestone for the Castle Combe Circuit, as it’s celebrating the 65th anniversary of its first bike meeting, back in 1951.

The programme includes 20 races each day, including rounds of the ACU 125GP and 250GP British championships, as well as sidecars and just about every solo class imaginable, plus the Classic Parade.

Nortons from a later era will feature too – Steve Spray will demonstrate one of the JPS Rotary bikes that he rode to British Championship success in the late 1980s.
