UK electric sales boom

Sales of electric scooters and motorcycles more than doubled last year, from 685 to 1618, the highest figure ever in the UK. This confirms the upward trend which began in 2018, when electric moped sales doubled and those of bigger two-wheelers were up by 54%.

Mopeds still hold the lion’s share, making up 67% of that 2019 figure – the remaining third was evenly split between motorcycles and scooters, reflecting the sales success of 125cc motorcycle equivalents such as the Super Soco, and a resurgent Zero. Niu scooters were the top two best-selling models overall, followed by Super Soco. color:#666666″>

Electric sales are still a tiny drop in the powered two-wheeler market, making up just 1.5% of the total last year, but there’s no doubt that they are finally taking off.  The trend was confirmed by sales in January 2020 – 108 registrations, marking a 129% increase on the same month in 2019. color:#666666″>
