Yamaha Motor UK will not be present at this year’s Motorcycle Live, scheduled to take place at the NEC Birmingham in December, thereby posing a question mark over the event’s viability if other leading manufacturers follow suit.

Although Yamaha Motor Europe has confirmed its commitment to exhibiting at the EICMA Milan trade fair in Italy, that will be its sole hands-on-metal European show appearance in the autumn of 2021.

Yamaha Motor’s 2022 line-up will only be unveiled to potential British customers via its online platforms, such as the Yamaha Motor UK website and social media channels, as well as via numerous motorcycle media outlets. Some models, such as the new R7, will also be available for inspection at dealer showrooms from as early as November, with the other new models in the range filtering through across the winter and into the New Year.

Commenting on the decision, Yamaha Motor UK general manager Adam Kelley said: “This year we feel it is the right time to showcase our 2022 line-up via our online channels and fully re-designed dealer network, which is enhanced by integrated interactive showroom tools such as the MyGarage app. However, attending events will continue to be part of our strategy moving forward in 2022.”
