Strong first half-year for Euro registrations

Total first six-month motorcycle registrations in the six main European markets, including the UK, increased by 16.8% over the first half of 2026. ICE registrations, at 618,288, were the best in 10 years, and electric sales at 18,202 were up 35% on last year’s 13,458, but down 13% on the record 21,078 registered in the first half of 2022.

Moped registrations in the five main European markets (excluding the UK) over the first six months of the year were up by 4.7% at 72,076, but down by 38% on the 117,762 sold 10 years ago. ICE moped registrations at 50,950 were up 8.8% from the previous year.

Electric moped registrations fell 4% to 21,126 from the previous year’s 22,007 and down 52% from the record 44,027 registered in the first half of 2022. By comparison, total UK electric registrations over the first six months of the year were down 12.7% to 1,695.

Antonio Perlot, ACEM secretary general, said: “Looking at long-term trends, the L-category has consistently demonstrated its relevance as both a practical transport solution and a leisure choice for European consumers.

“We must see how the trend holds through the autumn months before drawing conclusions about the sustained market momentum.”
