INDIAN HELPS POLARIS TO MORE RECORD RESULTS

With sales of the revived Indian motorcycle brand booming and remorseless growth in its key ATV market, Polaris Industries has unveiled yet another set of record financial results for the second quarter of 2014.

Entirely driven by the success of Indian, Polaris boasted a 107 per cent improvement in its revenue from motorcycles during the period to £60.5m. Indian retail sales volume was up by approximately 50 per cent in an otherwise flat US cruiser market and export sales almost doubled, according to the company. But it also admitted to a single-digit decline in sales of the Victory bike brand, attributed to a major product recall during May. 

Revenue from Polaris-branded quadbike and side-by-side ATVs, which dominate the US domestic market, rose by 13 per cent to £411.6m.

Overall revenue was 20 per cent up at £595m. Operating profit grew by 24 per cent to £91.2m. Net profit increased by 21 per cent to £56.9m.
