FAST-TRACK GROWTH FOR ROYAL ENFIELD

Royal Enfield parent Eicher Motors is investing £74m to build its third motorcycle production plant, which will come on stream in September 2017. Located at Vallam Vadagal on the outskirts of Chennai (formerly Madras) in southern India, this additional factory will increase the brand’s total annual capacity to 900,000 units.

In a recent half-yearly financial results presentation, Eicher revealed that Royal Enfield sales during the six-month period had risen by 34.2% to 314,424 bikes and demand is outpacing supply.
