HARLEY FACES MASSIVE RECALL THREAT

America’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating a potential anti-lock braking system defect on 430,000 Harley-Davidson motorcycles. These machines are from model years 2008-11, supplied to US domestic market customers. The same problem could affect an unspecified volume of exported bikes, including some in the UK.

The NHTSA probe began after an Associated Press news agency story detailing claims of sudden ABS failures by 43 Harley owners. The regulator says it has also received three reports of crashes, two involving injuries, related to ABS issues.
