INDIAN BIKE SALES CLIMBING AGAIN

Reflecting a surge of economic optimism in India, the world’s second-largest powered two-wheeler market is growing rapidly again, according to latest sales data revealed by indigenous manufacturers.

Hero MotoCorp, the country’s largest bike producer, has reported August sales up by 21 per cent to 558,609 units. Its nearest native rival Bajaj Auto posted a less impressive two per cent monthly increase to 284,302 units. On a smaller scale, Royal Enfield enjoyed a 66 per cent improvement at 26,643 units.

Japanese manufacturers active in India, led by Honda’s wholly-owned subsidiary HMSI in second place overall behind Hero, are expected to announce even stronger results for August.
