oxford products enters team in twin town challenge

Oxford Products has entered a car in the Twin Town Challenge 2016. The second such event, it is a mass drive from Witney in Oxfordshire – home to the motorcycle and bicycle distributor – to the town’s twin, Le Touquet in France, to raise funds for a charity which helps people with physical disabilities to enjoy games.

To qualify, the vehicles have to have cost less than £500.

The Oxford team will comprise company founder Alec Hammond and his three sons, Andrew (current MD) and twin brother Graham and older brother Richard.

“Team Oxford Products is more used to two wheels than four, as we distribute our own Oxford brand of products in the global motorcycle and bicycle world,” said Andrew. We shall be competing as a family, father and three sons, so expect sparks to fly!”

The Oxford Mercedes will be joining 100 other budget cars as they drive to Le Touquet and back, via Silverstone and Croix en Ternois. It is not a race but a series of 12 fun points-based challenges and the event is designed to raise at least £250,000 to enable the charity SpecialEffect to buy technology such as modified joypads and eye-control.

Andrew Hammond concluded: “As vocal advocates for the motorcycle and cycle industries, our secondary aim is to raise awareness of the benefits of two wheels, so the message will be: ‘Ride to work, it’s quicker and cheaper on two wheels!’”

TTC16 will take place from Friday 27 May to Monday 30 May. If you would like to donate visit:
