Sinnis 125s complete road trip but duck Nurburgring

Mike Garrod and Lukas Rohulan of Sinnis Motorcycles have returned from a seven-day, 3200km charity road trip, but the planned laps of the famous Nurburgring race track did not happen on safety grounds.

Account Manager Garrod reports: “We rode through seven countries for Riders for Health on Chinese 125cc bikes.

“The purpose of the trip originally was to highlight the new SP125 and one of our other models from 2014, the Cafe 125cc, but I soon realised that charity could benefit as well as the good publicity for our own brand here in the UK. Also, we wanted to prove that you don’t have to own some £10,000 bike to see the world and have an adventure.”

The adventure started from the Brighton HQ of Sinnis Motorcycles and in seven days the bikers had ticked off France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Czech Republic and the Netherlands and covered 3200km. There were no break downs, a small crash, two new rear light bulbs and a change of spark plugs as preventative maintenance.

“After spending the evening with an instructor on the ring it was decided on safety grounds it was better we did not go on the track. Cars doing 180mph on the day put us off!

“Although I would do the trip again, I would say 125cc bikes are not capable on the German Autobahns – if you are going to do it – stick to A roads, it’s prettier, slower and much much safer.”
