Tony campbell to leave piaggio group at end of july

Tony Campbell is stepping down as MD of Piaggio in the UK. The news was broken in a letter to dealers from Maurizio Carletti, executive vice president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The letter reveals Campbell has decided to leave the Piaggio Group, which he joined in 2004, at the end of July.

“Tony has directed and overseen significant but necessary change for the group through a time when the company faced several major challenges, including the merger of the group’s brands following the acquisition of the Aprilia and Moto Guzzi business; a strong but required network rationalisation programme; and the successful introduction of the Motoplex Visual Identity project.

“These tough challenges have been achieved in a market that has been difficult to predict. Nonetheless, Tony and his team have delivered excellent financial results for the group which has allowed the company to continue with its plans and maintain its full commitment to the UK as the market evolves in the years to come.”

An announcement on a successor, following an internal selection process, is to be made “in the very near future”.

Carletti concluded: “We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to Tony for his commitment, passion and dedication during his 13 years with the Piaggio Group and wish him the best of luck and every success in his future career.”
