adventure bike magazine launches radio station

Overland magazine, the glossy devoted to adventure biking, is to launch its own digital radio station. “We’re launching on 28 January, 2015,” said editor Paddy Tyson. “We’ll be doing 12 hours of shows a day, eight different types including reviews, interviews blogs from the road and a magazine-type programme.

“We will be taking adverts as well and we’re expecting to attract about 20,000 listeners around the world. It’ll be a sort of Radio 4 for anyone interested in overland travelling by bike.”

Meanwhile, sales of the print magazine have climbed to 12,000 worldwide, according to Tyson, reflecting the continued growth of the adventure bike sector. And according a recent reader survey, readers tend to be middle-aged, fairly affluent and undertake at least two trips a year on their own bike.
