BMW dealer Allan Jefferies of Baildon has opened a 3000sq.ft extension to its showroom, making it one of the largest in Europe.

The latest £500,000 investment follows a spend of nearly £2m in 2010 and takes the total retail space to 17,000sq.ft.

Last year the company set a new record for the highest number of new BMW registrations sold in one year, more than 500, with customers travelling from as far afield as Northern Ireland, Scotland and the south coast for new and used bikes, clothing, parts and service.

The new showroom was opened on Friday 27 January and the evening was reported to be a huge success.

“We welcomed new and existing customers into our new showroom and provided food, drink and entertainment,” Louise Jefferies told BDN. “British championship trials riders and professional display artists Jack Challenor and Martin Crosswaite provided an amazing display which was set up just outside the showroom for everyone to watch.”

The company was established in 1901 by Joseph Jefferies, named after his first-born son Allan and has remained in the family for four generations. Today, the business is run by Joseph’s great-granddaughter, Louise, who took over as MD in 2000, when the company employed just nine people.

The Motorrad retailer now has 29 staff. Behind Louise’s desk in her office hangs a portrait of her grandfather Allan and a picture of her brother, TT legend David Jefferies who was tragically killed racing on the Island. One of David’s V&M race bikes is now on display in the dealership.

Of the expansion, Louise said: “We are delighted with the new showroom expansion. We now have even more space to display bikes, incorporating BMWs new worldwide branding and identity”.

Louise’s father, ex-racer Tony Jefferies, was presented with the British Dealer News Lifetime Achievement Award at a ceremony during Expo 2017.
