Augmented-reality glasses win award for Texa

Multi-brand diagnostics specialist Texa has landed another award, this time for its augmented reality glasses.

Texa won the Innovation Award in the Automotive Tools category at the Auto Trade Expo Show, the most important Irish fair dedicated to the aftermarket of passenger vehicles, trucks, light commercial vehicles, buses and motorcycles which took place in Dublin between 8-9 November.

Texa’s prototype of the augmented reality glasses were developed in collaboration with Epson Italia.

A Texa spokesman said: “After the prestigious awards received at Automechanika in Frankfurt [two Innovation awards and Beste Marke] and the Russian Golden Wrench award, Texa stands out once again with one of its innovative diagnostic solutions, this time in the strategic Irish market.

“The glasses allow technicians to view, for the first time, all the information needed for repairs projected in front of their eyes while they are working on a vehicle. In the past, workshop operators have had to alternate looking at the diagnostic tool and at the vehicle while they are working, losing precious time. This innovative type of diagnostic support is also very useful for reducing the risks incurred in a workshop, as the glasses highlight each critical point using signals that appear right in front of the technician’s eyes.”
