BMW electric deal for Maxxis

A major brand OE supply contract is generally a big win for tyre companies. They get the seal of approval for their rubber from a big bike firm, a massive production order, and plenty of follow-up business as owners often choose the OE fitment when it comes to the first replacement.

So it’s no surprise that Maxxis is pleased about a new deal to supply its Supermaxx SC scooter tyre to BMW for the CE 04 electric scooter. Launched last year, the CE 04 aims to provide a mainstream electric commuting option, with 41hp peak output, a 75mph top speed, 80 mile range and fast charging setup.

The Maxxis Supermaxx SC claims to improve efficiency on both electric and petrol-powered scooters, with low rolling resistance, dual-compound rear tyre and spiral steel belt construction. It’s available on the aftermarket in 120/70 R14, 120/70 R15, 160/60 R14 and 160/60 R15 sizes as a replacement tyre for the CE 04, and other maxi-scooters.

“Maxxis is proud to be associated with BMW with the brand new Supermaxx SC”, said Dr. Wally Chen, chairman of Maxxis International. “With our innovative tyre development and commitment to meet BMW’s requirements, we look forward to the expansion of OE fitments on BMW’s vehicles.”
