Chester wins battle of the customisers

Winner of the first ever BMW Bespoke Build was Chester Motorrad, which took the honours with more than 2500 votes out of more than 10,000 cast on social media.

Eight custom BMW R nineT Racers were produced by eight Motorrad retailers for the  contest. Road legality was the only limitation imposed, and eight unique Racers were the result.

Chester Motorrad and Wollaston Motors of Northampton were locked in a close battle, with more than 2000 votes apiece. Both entries were visually very different, highlighting just how versatile a machine the retro R nineT Racer can be in a customiser’s hands.

Fewer than 400 votes split Chester and Wollaston when voting closed on 7 February, and with the voting so close, the decision was made to display both bikes on the BMW Motorrad stand at the MCN London Show from 16 -18 February.

Paul Hodgson, sales manager at Chester Motorrad, said: “Our team did such a fantastic job, there was an incredible amount of work for our technicians to fabricate all the custom parts themselves and resolving a couple of issues we made for ourselves because of the rather radical design.”

The podium was completed by Chandlers Bikes of Brighton, which was voted into third place.
