expo organisers warn industry about scam

The organisers of Motorcycle Trade Expo 2018 are warning the industry not to fall for an email scam, claiming to offer a list of pre-registered visitors in advance of the show (14-16 January, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire).

The scammers say they can supply contact details of 4500 pre-registered visitors at a specially discounted cost for use in pre-show marketing.

Contacted by BDN using a private email address, the scammers repeated their claim and offered hugely discounted rates on the data to get those valuable credit card details.

An Expo show organiser told BDN: “No Expo data from this or any previous show is sold to third parties so we can confirm that this data service is an out-and-out scam.”
