funeral of stephen whitehead

Stephen John Whitehead, who worked in the trade for more than 40 years, has died aged 56.

On leaving school in 1977, Stephen, an avid motocross rider in his younger years, worked for David MacAllister at Claremont Motorcycles in Ashton until the dealership closed in 2002.

He moved straight to Earnshaws, where he worked until 2015 before moving to All Bikes, Rochdale. After a year there he decided to semi-retire.

Stephen and his son Robert (Rob) worked together at Earnshaws. “My father was a great man and well-loved in the trade. He always had plenty of time for everyone and made a great many friends both with customers and people in the trade.

“My father had great memories of his time at Earnshaws, where I worked with him from 2007 up until 2015. He taught me a lot about the motorcycle trade.”

As well as Rob, Stephen leaves his wife Carolyn and another son, David.

The funeral will be held on 23 February, 1pm, at Hollinwood Crematorium, Roman Road, Oldham OL8 3LU. This will be followed by a celebration of his life at Victoria Hotel, Hollinwood Avenue, Chadderton OL9 8DE.
