Holeshot paints Yeovil green

Off-road chain Holeshot expands with new Kawasaki road bike dealership in Yeovil.

The worlds of dirt bikes and road bikes don’t seem to mix as often as you might expect, but Salisbury firm Holeshot Motocross is changing all that by opening a new Kawasaki road bike branch in Yeovil.

The firm’s been trading for 11 years, selling new and used off-road machinery, and has been a Kawasaki off-road dealer for the last seven years. It’s also taken on the Japanese firm’s agricultural range – Mules and quads – as well as Jet Skis. So it’s perhaps no surprise that owner Liam Ulett has now added Kawasaki’s full road bike range to the Holeshot line-up.

The firm’s marketing manager, Scott Gower, told us how the new road bike store came about: “Kawasaki approached us with the opportunity to open a new store in Yeovil and we jumped on the case. We’re proud to be the first showroom in Europe to have Kawasaki’s new shop display, and we may be biased but we really do think the shop looks great!”

The new Yeovil store is the first time Holeshot has been an official road bike dealer for Kawasaki – but the firm has been selling KTM and Husqvarna road bikes for a while. Used bikes have also been a large part of the business, especially in terms of trade-ins and part exchange machinery, and the restricted supply of new bikes since lockdown made used machinery even more important.

“We first introduced road bikes into our business with the full KTM and Husqvarna ranges more than a year ago,” said Gower. “With this we learnt what it takes to run a successful road dealership and we’re excited for the challenge that lies ahead. Our aim is to be one of the top Kawasaki dealerships in the country; we also hope to have more than 200 used bikes in stock by the summer, making us a real destination to visit during those summer ride outs.”

And Holeshot Kawasaki Yeovil is offering the full customer experience straight from the off. “As well as bikes we have clothing and accessories, along with a fully functioning workshop,” said Gower. “We offer MOT, servicing and diagnostics on all makes and models. We can also offer suspension setup and upgrades as well as tyre fitting. With finance on new and used bikes, part exchange, test rides and courtesy bikes we feel that we have the tools in place to offer a great service, along with the amazing products that Kawasaki has to offer.”

Dean Clewley, UK business operations manager at Kawasaki Motors UK, worked on the Holeshot road bike project from the KMUK side. And he’s got good things to say about the new operation.

“Kawasaki and Holeshot have enjoyed a strong partnership for many years with both off-road and ATV/Mule franchises. A key asset for Kawasaki is Holeshot’s passion for customer service, plus an appetite to seek out innovative systems to aid retailing. Expanding with a Kawasaki road franchise is something Liam Ulett has been ultra-keen to do, and what he and our customer experience team have created in Yeovil showcases our latest retail identity and Liam’s fine eye for detail.  The finished product creates such a vibrant and exciting environment along with a warm welcome! I look forward to many more profitable years with Holeshot Kawasaki being great brand ambassadors.”
