HONDA TO LAUNCH E-SCOOTER NEXT YEAR

In a Tokyo press briefing, Honda chief executive Takahiro Hachigo has announced that the brand will launch its first electric scooter in 2018, aimed at commuters.

In relation to the e-scooter and other zero emissions projects, Hachigo added that Honda is focusing on commuting convenience and is currently working on R&D for an easily detachable battery pack. Presumably this will extend range without recharging down-time, through battery swaps rather than plug-ins at e-service facilities.

Fuller story in the July issue of BDN.
