inventor hopes alarm project will go with a bang

With the fitment of motorcycle alarms in decline, Bike Mine is a theft deterrent with a difference. When the titanium tripwire is triggered by a thief it triggers a 150db explosion via a detonator – “the world’s loudest alarm”. This “saluting detonator” is legal and completely safe, according to inventor Yannick Read, who was inspired to build the Bike Mine after having a motorcycle and bicycles stolen in London.

Read, whose previous inventions have included Hornster (the world’s loudest bicycle horn) and the world’s smallest caravan (for which he’s in the Guinness Book of Records), is trying to fund production of his invention using crowd funding.
