Kymco Ionex hits the UK streets

Taiwanese firm Kymco has been working hard on its electric bike range over the past few years and now it’s finally releasing a battery-powered scooter for the UK market. The new Ionex i-One is a moped-level machine, with 50cc-equivalent performance, aimed squarely at urban commuters and the delivery fleet market.

It has a maximum speed of around 28mph, and a claimed range of 38 miles at 18mph from one removable battery – but it has the capacity for two batteries, which doubles the range. The batteries charge from a normal 13A socket in eight hours, with a fast charger available later this year.

There’s underseat storage, USB charging socket, LED lighting and a digital dashboard, and it will come in four colours for an on-the-road price of around £4000.
