Let’s get it on! AMCA all set for 2019 off-road season

The Amateur Motor Cycle Association has announced its motocross fixture list which kicks off with a season opener on Sunday 24 February. The list features 140 events spanning 35 weeks, finishing with the 10th annual Skegness Beach Race on 9/10 November.

Among the fixtures are ten AMCA British Championship rounds which this year will feature MX1, MX2, 125cc and Vets classes along with the Youth class. As well as running some of the rounds on AMCA-owned tracks, the association has a two-day event booked at the prestigious Hawkstone Park track.

Championship riders can also take advantage of the grand prix tyre fitting service provided by Dunlop at each round.

An eight-round women’s championship is also scheduled, running in conjunction with the BWMA (British Women’s MX Association).

Additionally, the classic arm of the association has a dedicated AMCA British Classic MX championship of six rounds, the first round hosted by the Bath Classic Club at the Yatton Keynell track in Wiltshire takes place on 28 April.

Focusing on motocross at the grass roots level, the AMCA says it continues to pride itself on providing low-cost access to the sport – a motocross entry bought in advance through the AMCA’s online booking facility will cost a licensed rider £33.50 and an annual licence is £75.

Events manager Steve Harvey said: “We’re all set and looking forward to the season ahead, championship registrations are coming in nicely, as are licences, so things are looking promising for a good year.”
