Lind Group, one of Britain’s largest motorcycle dealer chains, has shrugged off the Covid-19 lockdown and is striving to restore key elements of the business. Although still precluded from opening showroom doors to customers, other operational aspects across its 11 sites are functional again.

These franchises encompass BMW Motorrad in Norwich and Welwyn Garden City, Harley-Davidson in Guildford, Newmarket, Norwich, Reading and Watford, plus Triumph in North, East and Central London, as well as Ashford in Middlesex.

“Our workshops are now open on an appointment-only basis,” explains Lind managing director Russell Dacre (pictured). “We have robust check-in and check-out procedures in place, and so far it’s been going very well. The teams have literally been flat-out fulfilling many motorcycle service and repair requirements.

“We are also now able to offer appointments to collect motorcycles, clothing, parts and accessories which have been purchased over the phone, online or bought before the lockdown. Think of it as a click-and-collect service. And our new online apparel store has been extremely busy.”

Dacre stresses that his dealerships are open in a limited and controlled manner, with skeleton teams working to provide the best levels of customer experience possible in the circumstances, while keeping everyone involved safe from harm. But he recognises it may be some time before business as usual is resumed.
