Paul Barkshire, director of Lings Motor Group (pictured top), is to succeed Martin Marshall as chairman of the National Motorcycle Dealers Association (NMDA). Steve Latham, head of the NMDA, thanked Martin Marshall for his many dedicated years as the “motorcycle champion for the association” and wished him all the best as he now focused on his Honda and Yamaha dealerships in Scotland.

Barkshire, 44, started as an apprentice at Lings, left to work in the motor trade and as a hospital technician before returning to Lings as a branch manager, general manager and then director.

Motorcycles-wise, the automotive group has franchises for Honda, Triumph and Husqvarna.
