The NEC in Birmingham is, of course, gearing up for the Motorcycle Live show at the end of the month. But there’s another enormous event the week before, with auction firm Iconic Auctions bringing the hammer down on its largest-ever motorcycle sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show. Highlights of the auction include two bikes from TV star Henry Cole; a 1961 Dresda Triton 750 and a 2012 Norton Commando 961 SE Café Racer 961 which has never been started. There’s also a Brough Superior SS100 with a guide price of a quarter of a million pounds and one of the biggest private collections of Ducatis in the world. The Ducati collection belonged to Jeff Fosker of Foskers Ferraris, the oldest independent specialist UK Ferrari dealer, and includes gems like a 1991 851 SP3, 1993 888 SPO and a 1997 916 SPS.
Mark Bryan, motorcycle manager at Iconic Auctioneers, comments: “I am delighted to bring our largest-ever motorcycle sale to the NEC this year. There is a fantastic selection of bikes of all makes and models with prices to suit all budgets from No Reserve to £250,000. It includes the largest collection of Ducatis I’ve ever dealt with, along with the private bikes of the well-known motorcycle celebrity Henry Cole. Without a doubt, this selection of bikes will attract worldwide interest.”
