Hours after meeting with representatives of the Motor Cycle Industry Association and listening to its refusal to accept all the blame for the epidemic of stolen scooter-enabled crime in the capital, London mayor Sadiq Khan has tweeted a defiant message.

On his Mayor of London account, Khan tweeted: “More than 23,430 crimes were committed using motorcycles in London last year. I’m working with to tackle moped crime – but it’s time for manufacturers to step up and design anti-theft measures into their vehicles to help keep Londoners safe.” 

The message, however, has met with a barrage of criticism and derision from motorcyclists. See the responses at
