New Yuasa HQ in Swindon

Leading battery manufacturer and original equipment supplier GS Yuasa, is to expand its UK distribution operation with a massive new headquarters and distribution centre now being built at Dorcan, Swindon.

The new building will cover 16,500m2, with enough space for 23,000 pallets, and will be at the heart of the firm’s motorcycle, car and industrial supply chains.

The main construction phase will be completed by the end of 2022, with full operation planned for the middle of 2023. From then, it will stock hundreds of thousands of batteries for shipment throughout the UK and into the EU. The new centre should help ease any Brexit-related supply issues remaining by that point – and the firm also says there will be no disruption during the transition to the new location.

James Hylton, managing director of GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK, said: “This is brilliant news and marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the history of our company. The building is designed to accommodate significant growth over the next 15 years, in both existing and new markets.

“The design of the site, coupled with our state-of-the-art warehouse equipment and systems will enable us to offer significantly improved service levels for customers, ensuring that we continue to stay ahead of the competition.”
