Newmarket Harley celebrates its 20th anniversary

Newmarket Harley-Davidson has celebrated its 20th anniversary. The party included food and entertainment and visitors took advantage of exclusive offers on clothing and accessories as well as deals on selected new and used bikes. MAG Europe had a display stand with custom bikes and its major brands, plus Jekyll & Hyde, the renowned exhaust supplier, had a display stand and a live demonstration of how to fit an exhaust.

The dealership was formerly Black Bear H-D but was bought by the Lind Group in October 2013. Many of the original staff are still part of the now 21-strong team of local employees.

Dealer principal Garry Knowles, who also oversees the Norwich store, told BDN: “Myles [Conning] our aftersales manager, has been here since 1996, Al James, our parts supervisor, came on board in 1998 followed by Chris Morris, one of our sales team, who started in 1999. In total our team has a combined 212 years of experience with H-D.

“The Lind group already owned Harley-Davidson dealerships in Guildford and Reading and was confident that, with the support of the long-standing, experienced local staff, would continue to run a successful business in Newmarket.

“Since then, Lind Group has opened a satellite store in Norwich supported from our Newmarket dealership so we can better serve Harley-Davidson owners across the whole of East Anglia including Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and Hertfordshire.

“To celebrate our 20th anniversary we gave away to the first 400 attendees a limited edition 20th anniversary pin which we had had specially produced.”
