Oxford Products is the latest company to join Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative, with 48 of its motorcycle and bicycle security products having achieved Police Preferred Specification (PPP).

As an organisation working alongside the UK Police Service, SBD claims to achieve sustainable reductions in crime through design, thereby reducing pressure on the police. It was created in 1989 and started working with industry bodies and manufacturers to tackle variations in product quality. As a result test houses were created and certification bodies set up to meet these requirements.

Commenting on his company’s participation, Oxford’s head of product development William Rivers Fletcher said: “Oxford is excited to be joining forces with SBD in the wider effort to combat theft and all the associated negatives that come with the loss of property. Our combined experience can only bring about positive results and better security options for the end user.”

SBD development officer Doug Skins added: “Oxford is a huge global supplier of motorcycle and bicycle products and to have so many of them reaching PPP is fantastic. I welcome this business to the SBD family of licensed members and look forward to working with it over the coming years.”
