Phil Gooding

Phil Gooding

Phil Gooding, the founder of Grand Prix Scooters, Leicester, died on 13 October following an accident at his home.  He was 69.

Norrie Kerr, MD of scooter parts and accessories distributer VE (UK), writes: “Grand Prix Scooters was Phil’s means of enjoying himself after he retired from the police force, where he had achieved the rank of Inspector. His knowledge of scooters was well known in Leicester and further afield. He enjoyed the business side of being a dealer, but meeting customers and working on scooters was his forte.

“Phil was a welcome and regular visitor after myself and Dave Webster started the Midland Scooter Centre in Nottingham many years ago. He enjoyed a joke and the fun side of scootering. I always liked his cool attitude and found his honesty and decency very refreshing. My sincere sympathies to his wife Margaret and family.”
