Donington Park-based Ron Haslam Race School has a new tyre partner in Dunlop Tyres. Dunlop’s Dominic Clifford commented: “Not only are we fitted on the fleet of Honda’s at the school but we also benefit from branding on their bikes and on some of their promotional material. Getting riders to try our new products is important and encourages riders to try something new on their own bikes at home.”

The school’s Ann Haslam said: “Dunlop is the brand of choice for road racing winners such as John McGuinness and Michael Dunlop and we are thrilled to be fitting the tyres to our fleet.”

 

Piaggio has signed a global agreement with Castrol and for the supply of lubricants for the Italian group’s motorised two-wheeler brands. The agreement covers the supply of first-fill engine oil for Piaggio, Vespa, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Derbi and Gilera machines.

The recommended products will also be available for aftersales through Piaggio’s multibrand Motoplex stores in Europe and Asia Pacific.

 

Confidence among small firms has risen to the highest level in over a year despite spiralling business costs, according to the Federation of Small Businesses.

Its Small Business Index shows a strong recovery has been spurred by increased international trade. At the same time, a net balance of 64.5% of small firms report an increase in operating costs, the highest proportion since the summer of 2013.

 

MotoDirect’s relationship with Japanese helmet-maker Arai has expanded into the car range. The new arrangement will take effect on 1 June.

MotoDirect started its relationship with Arai in the beginning of 2012 when the Japanese helmet-maker appointed the Alfreton-based company as its distributor for motorcycle helmets for the UK. MotoDirect sales and marketing director Jonny Towers, said: “Over the past five years we have helped grow the motorcycle business through service and customer relationships and we aim to do the same in the car market also.”

R&G is continuing its support of the R&G Rookies’ Trophy in 2017. The series is open to riders making their debut in any of the MCE British Superbike Championship classes and the winner will receive £500 cash, £500 R&G product support, a set of race tyres from Pirelli and a top-of-the-range LS2 helmet.

 

Suzuki has announced a new, low-rate finance offer for its SV650 and GSX-S1000. A new special rate of 4.9% APR, coupled with a deposit of £1500.00, means the SV650 can be ridden for only £1.94 per day – “less than the price of a daily coffee”. Suzuki’s GSX-S1000 with more power and a slipper clutch for 2017 – can be had for £90 per month with a deposit or trade-in of £2500.00. The faired GSX-S1000F is also on offer, and with the same deposit can be ridden for £100 per month.
